A fashion models job is a job that can sometimes seem like a lot of fun and easy, but can also be very hard work. Models often travel miles and miles for their shoots. With photo shoots often being in far away destinations they spend a lot of time away from their families which can be very hard. On the other hand, travelling the world can be great and can give you lots of new experiences. Fashion design is a celebrated profession for many reasons. To name a few, it is praised for it’s extremity, creativity, originality, open-minded nature and for it’s knack for finding and producing beauty out of odd or idiosyncratic circumstances. All of this is true about fashion design, yet sadly the modeling world does not always reflect this open-mindedness. High fashion models have been notoriously exclusive to white women of a very specific height and weight range. One such example is the model most recently known as Lea T. Lea T, who used to be Leandro Cerezo, is a Brazilian model that got her start as the assistant to Riccardo Tisci, creative director for Givenchy. Tisci took notice of Lea’s stunning looks, and has referred to her as “innately elegant”, and “aristocratic”. He has cast her in the Givenchy label’s newest ad campaign. Additionally she appears in this month’s French Vogue. In the magazine, she is posing nude, with her long hair falling over her breasts, while she covers her genitals with her hand. Although Lea T is preparing to undergo a full hormonal and physical sex change, she still currently has male genitalia.

The very word modeling conjures up visions of glamour, good clothes, and luxurious surroundings and seemingly everlasting good looks. Yes, successful models do have access to all these and more. The reason for all these trappings of a luxurious lifestyle is the high model salaries. The salary of a supermodel is estimated to be in the range of $40 – $50 million a year.

Not all models make that kind of money. The salaries move in tandem with the popularity commanded by the model. The more the popularity, the higher is the salary. The lower rungs of the ladder are occupied by models whose salaries are fixed by the firms that employ them. A creative body position for fashion glamour models is enchanting. You do not stop with a critical eye at any one part. It is a fresh interpretation of a position you know is possible, but haven’t seen very often. It is just right and right up to the last detail.

If you have already delved into creative posing, have you ever stopped to wonder at what point something ceases to be ordinary and takes on the qualities of the craftsman? The body-line is the first and most prominent stroke on the page. It is the theme-line of your picture. It is established with a specific purpose in mind and serves as a basis of creative departure for other parts of the body. It can be a long-line, a zigzag or perhaps a borderline combination of the two.

Have you noticed that all theme-lines create both physical and mental impressions? To a fine degree, you sense attitudes, character and vitality in each. For that reason we say that the body talks. It is much more than a trunk to which the limbs are attached, it is the stem through which design and story must flow smoothly … enhanced rather than hindered.

THE LONG-LINE OF THE BODY
